INE and us both had students passing before Brian did his lecture on this
topic. From what I hear it was a very good one, and I am sure it was. But
the lab content does not change because we had a 7 10 hour VoD on the
subject.
We do have labs on PFR in our workbooks, it's not that I totally ignored
the subject, but I don't see how PFR can have more weight than OSPF and or
MPLS. I can see how Cisco can drill you on MPLS/L3VPNs in the TS or even
configuration section, I can also see the same happening in OSPF, IPv6,
Multicasting, but I don't see that happening with PFR.
I see PFR having something like 3 to 5 points and I see this subject one of
those that you may or you may not get in your lab, whereas, OSPF is a topic
that you WILL see in the lab and it may have lots of other topics depending
on its proper configuration.
I agree with a class on PFR, I believe that it will work and it's a very
good idea. I think candidates MUST know every topic in the blueprint, this
includes the IP services and ADV Features, but understand that you can
easily pass the lab not knowing PFR, but I don't see that happening with
OSPF or some of the core topics.
BTW, this is just an opinion. I don't want the students to think that they
should not take the lab because they don't know PFR as deep as they should,
many students have passed this lab without even knowing PFR, and many have
passed the lab with knowing enough. I would treat it like HSRP, VRRP, GLBP,
IRDP, and or some of the topics in the IP services.
But as I said before, you should know every topic in the blueprint.
