Hi Sattinder,
My question was what could cause the hold timer to jump to about 300ms from
the normal 12ms. R1 is getting wrong one from R2 and R2 is getting correct
one from R1. Check below again

I have a question I wish to check with you experts. Have 2 routers directly
connected. What could cause the hold-timer to jump way above the maximum
Lets say my hello timer is set 3s and holding multiplier to 4 . So holding
timer =4x3=12s
config
R1
interface POS1/0/0
ip router isis 1
ip a ddress w.x.y.z 255.255.255.254
encapsulation ppp
isis circuit-type level-2-only
isis hello-multiplier 4
isis hello-interval 3
!
R2
interface POS1/0/0
ip router isis 1
ip a ddress w.x.y.z+1 255.255.255.254
encapsulation ppp
isis circuit-type level-2-only
isis hello-multiplier 4
isis hello-interval 3
!
If i check from R2
R1#sh isis neighbors
System Id Type Interface IP Address State Holdtime Circuit Id
R2 L2 PO1/0/0 w.x.y.z+1 UP
299 02
R2#sh isis neighbors
System Id Type Interface IP Address State Holdtime Circuit Id
R1 L2 PO1/0/0 w.x.y.z UP 12
02
