Im practicing up on ISDN configuration, and I keep running into an issue
that I cant find the fix for.
Im using the vconsole 2 port U interface ISDN simulator. ( latest firmware )
2 routers, 2610's with BRI WIC's.
12.2(23) IP/FW/IDS 3DES code.
Config:
( Dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit on both)
R1:
interface BRI0/0
ip address 13.13.13.1 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
dialer map ip 13.13.13.2 name R3 3174029730 dialer-group 1 isdn
switch-type basic-5ess no cdp enable !
R3:
interface BRI0/0
ip address 13.13.13.2 255.255.255.0
encapsulation ppp
dialer map ip 13.13.13.1 name R1 3178581655 dialer-group 1 isdn
switch-type basic-5ess no fair-queue no cdp enable !
The initial call goes through fine, however after I make the call the first
time, the B channel stays up, or so the router says:
Whats weird is that the status shows a B in use, but the active doesn't.
R1#sho isdn stat
Global ISDN Switchtype = basic-ni
ISDN BRI0/0 interface
dsl 0, interface ISDN Switchtype = basic-5ess
Layer 1 Status:
ACTIVE
Layer 2 Status:
TEI = 66, Ces = 1, SAPI = 0, State = MULTIPLE_FRAME_ESTABLISHED
Layer 3 Status:
0 Active Layer 3 Call(s)
CCB:callid=8001, sapi=0, ces=1, B-chan=1, calltype=DATA
Active dsl 0 CCBs = 1
The Free Channel Mask: 0x80000002
Total Allocated ISDN CCBs = 1
R1#sho isdn active
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
---- ISDN ACTIVE CALLS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Call Calling Called Remote Seconds Seconds Seconds Charges Type Number Number Name Used Left Idle Units/Currency ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----R1#
Doing a shut/no shut on the bri interface allows me to make an initial call again after which the channel shows as above.
I have tried 2 different code revisions with the same result. This only happens with the basic-5ess setting. If I change to basic-ni I don't have the problem. I work with basic-ni all the time, however I have limited experience with basic-5ess so I guess it *could* be a config problem.
I have tried configuring the ISDN sim with 0 for a single spid, both spid's , nothing for spids and a single spid, but nothing helps.
Anyone have ANY idea what is causing the router to think that a B channel is still active? This happens on both routers, which makes me believe that it's a simulator problem rather than a router config problem.
Thanks
Larry
