Thanks a lot for your reply Brian. According to that link:
If the prefix get Rib-Failre when installing into bgp table because of
there is already has a prefix in the routing table with a prefered
admin distance (like already learnd by ospf), then this prefix should not be
advertised to other bgp peers unless the next-hop is the same as the
prefixin the ip routing table. But the behavior is that even if the next-hop
is the same, this prefix
still does not advertise to it's bgp peers.
In this case though, there is no internal routing protocol so the prefix
isn't installed in the routing table. What could the cause be? I'm afraid
I do not yet fully understand.
I'm running :c3640-i-mz.122-8.T1.bin, and I have two routers, both of which
peer with the same AS, with a third link on one of them.
Basically looks like
AS12021---ibgp----AS12021 AS15290
| | /
| | /
| | /
Router ---ibgp------Router
Then the IP space is statically redistributed into BGP, with a static route
to the next hop address (firewall).
Any clue? I know I should probably just upgrade my IOS, but it's
interesting to figure out what the exact cause is anyways.
Thanks,
Tim
