I had the exact same problem with a 2501, and it was the settings on hyperterminal. It's funny, because the settings I was using worked fine with my other routers (3x2514, 1x2515, 1x2525, 1x2625)
but for some reason my 2501 got flaky.
I use CRT and I've been happy with it.
