I am having difficulty trying to setup up a very basic token ring scenario. I
have a 2502 connected to an IBM 8228 MAU which is connected to another 2502. T
he Token ring interfaces on both routers are up/up. The configuration is like
this.

When I ping a routers own interface that is OK. When I ping the tokenring inte
rface of the remote router I get nada. Debug IP packet show encapsulation fail
ed messages so I figured arp was not working. I configured static arp and the
encapsulation failed messages went away but then the packet just gets sent into
a black hole. Leaves the router interface but never arrives at the remote rou
ter which is on the same ring. I have changed cables and changed MAU's. I hav
e even used the MAU Lobe tool (or whatever you call it) and every port seemed o
k. (the red light went out after a few seconds and I could hear the relay click
in and out). I have never setup tokenring so I do not know what could be wron
g. Do you have to configure a router as the Active Monitor or something. Also
show CDP neighbor reveals nothing. Obviously the packet is not traversing the
ring from one router to the other but I cannot figure this one out. Any Ideas
