With LS protocols, you can't use distribute-list out commands, as the LS
protocols do not advertise routes.....

You can use the distribute-list in command under router configuration mode
to control if routes are entered into the IP route table. This means that
the link states are still in the LS database, but are just excluded from the
IP route table.

router ospf 1
  distribute-list 100 in

Subject: route filtering

I'm a bit confused as to how distribution-list work on link state protocols.

I understand that for DV protocols, with D-list in plaace, the router
looks at route updates and permit/deny based upon the access-list on the
D-list. But link state protocols do not advertise route updates, so does
the router inspect LSAs? Secondly, am I allow to filter ospf routes from a
neighbor in the same OSPF domain using distribution-list x in interface
command? If so, wouldn't the LS database be out of sync? Appreciate any
comments on these. Thanks.
