Not when it is running the Cosmo code... Then the routing and switching are co
nfiged in one IOS (which is just like the router or Cat35xx IOS), and each port
can be made a switched port or a routed port. Switched ports would be added t
o VLANs (or could be trunks), and routed ports get a layer 3 address.
With the old IOS, it was just like the Cat5k.

Are you sure about it? Because you configure cat6k just like 5k
box. Assign ports to different VLANs and then use session xx command to
assign layer 3 information to that VLAN. It is not line Cat2949-L3 switch
with standard router like IOS where every port by default is a L3 port and
you end up using IRB to put multiple ports in one bridge group.
I could be wrong but that's what I thought. Anybody with more experience
on cat6k is welcome to comment on this.
