This is not a router issue but a terminal emulation problem. The console
port of the router does not support flow control and as a result you must
disable flow control on your terminal emulator (the default for
hyperterminal is "HARDWARE").
The symptom, you can see console output but the router will not accept any
keystokes, including control-break.
I see this problem often. I find some router/PC combinations are more
sensitive to this issue than others.

Subject: Console problem
I need help so bad. I have 2509 connected to my pc through the console port
and to other 7 routers through an octal cable. Never had any problem till
yesterday when I cannot access the router through the connsole port.
Consequently, I do not have access to the other 7 routers. Have any member
had this problem before. I have checked and cross checked literally every
things and it looks ok. I have tried connecting same cable to another router
and it works fine--it accepts command from the key board, however, when I
connect to to this problem router it doesn't not accept commands from key
board. I have tried reload, I can see the output but router does not accept
command from the key board. My last effort was to issue a break key and then
to > prompt, that works because the router did accept commands typed. When I
reload and issue and command or enen hit my ENTER key, no response from the
router. Is this router in comma or dead forever, Any help will be highly
appreciated.
