Oscar,

I would like to add to this conversation as I am in the last leg of my journey and will have my number soon!

There are some prerequisites to passing the CCIE lab. The first one is that you have to "love" the technology because if you don't you wont be able to hang in there. The second one is that your mindset is "WHEN" I get my CCIE, not "IF".

I have been studying full time for the past nine months and it has been tough, not because the technology is necessarily difficult but there is just so much to cover. You study one topic for a while (OSPF), go to another (EIGRP) and come back to (OSPF) and you forgot most of it! You just have to do the stuff over and over... As you progress, the blue print gets smaller and smaller and it's really a nice feeling!

Just think of yourself as the "I" in "If I can do it, then anyone can" and you will get that number!

Good Luck!

I have an impression that unless you are a trainer with 10+ years experience of teaching CCIE your chances are very slim. It looks like less then 1% are passing. I consider myself a smart guy but was never in the first 1% in school either.
