I would disagree...it won't be religion based.
The original Design cert was a failure for a number of reasons. As for the
CCDE, I can't if it's successful or not as I have not seen it yet. Based on
the existing data, I would say it's going to have a long uphill battle. And
I don't see the top of the mountain yet.
But as for DC, it will be more than fine. All of the CCIE certs are post
sales based and I assume DC will be too. Making them post sales is the easy
part. Every area/technology has more than one way to skin the cat.
It's presales that is the difficult part.

I fear however that this can become somewhat of a "religious" cert like the
"design" cert was. There are many ways to skin a cat in the DC environment
and as most DC engineers / architects can attest to, there are always
battles
that are waged to get to a final design / implementation plan.
