can i make block diagrams of technologies in lab ?

i have a doubt .. as iam going for v4 iam seeing what i can do with some
specific technologies and in the process came up with an idea that a trouble
shooting or a matter of fact any technology can be summaraised into blocks
via block diagrams
now then .. let us take ospf , bgp , multicast

can i make block diagrams and known issues / troubleshooting of these
technologies in my scrap papers and use them as i like and when i like it ..
i know it would eat up 1 hour or so .. but seeing most of the people doing
lab in 4.30 hours and 5.20 being average time of completion it would be
better off to use and do them with a clear cut mind ..

(especially taking ospf lsa's my god !!! hehe )
