A sink-hole RP is designed to self-terminate traffic in case the main RP
goes away. It helps prevent traffic from running off in rampant
directions, or worse into dense mode. :)

You can also use it just for preventing anyone joining unauthorized
groups. Local termination, less traffic through your network. It's a
design concept.
