Let me put it like this. There are certain things that you will do to make
other things work that are not implicitly laid out in the lab instructions.
For instance, if you have a hub and spoke frame relay environment, to make
certain routing protocols work there may be commands / keywords that you
must enter to make it work that will not be explicitly laid out in the lab
directions.
This comes from knowing and understanding the technologies. Like your
example with auto summary. What does that really do for you for the routing
protocols you mentioned? Run through a lab scenario with out disabling it
and see the effects.
I'll bet if you kept a running list of all the commands you enter even
though not explicitly called for in the lab directions you would be
surprised!!!
