Hi Keith,

If you're going to use the .tar file (which contains the .bin inside,
along with the web-based device management HTML stuff), you need to
use the "archive download-sw" command instead of "copy tftp". This
will download and unpack the tar, and also do useful things like set
the system boot variable appropriately.

Is your new image a .tar or a .bin? If it's a standalone .bin file,
make sure the file is in your TFTP server's root directory.

You're not supposed to unpack the .tar on your TFTP server, if that's
what you're trying -- use "archive download-sw" instead.

It looks like you're upgrading a switch which has been loaded with the
.tar-based IOS package (indicated by the fact the .bin is inside a
directory in flash). In many cases I've found it best to clear out the
flash completely first -- literally delete everything that's in there
-- directories, files (including the old IOS). Just don't reload
before you manage to get the new IOS downloaded.

Make sure you're not running some kind of host-based firewall on the
computer running the TFTP service -- I don't think that's the case if
you went flash -> TFTP, but something to be aware of.

cheers,
Dale
