Hey champ, nice coincidence, I have been playing around with this for the
last few hours. :)
There are several answers to the question depending on your parameters.

If you have a half life of 10, a max suppress value of 1010 or so would do
it.
If you have a half life of 15, a max suppress value of 1060 or so would do
it
If you have a half life of 20, a max suppress value of 1120 or so would do
it

etc. I don't know an exact formula, I just space the two flaps the farthest
apart and then find a half life value that leaves me enough decay for a
suppression.

In short:

1) pick a half life
2) see what penalty that half life gives you after a minute
3) add 1000 (to account for the 2nd flap)
4) pick a suppression value just below that.
