Re: When to use local-as no prepend

This command is responsible for changing the AS_PATH attribute.

The usage of local-as is well-known.

The no-prepend option: responsible for stripping the local-as no.
configured for the peer from the inbound updates received from the
peer.[When we have the no-prepend option this helps in a scenario where the
local-as no. configured is aswell present somewhere else other than between
two AS's, since this AS wouldn't accept the prefixes with the same AS no.]

The replace-as option: responsible for stripping the original AS no. from
the updates sent out to the peer configured with this command.

The dual-as option: responsible allowing the peer to specify to peer with
any as no. local-as/original as no., the router configured with this command
will accept the BGP open messages with any AS no. in the packet received fro
the peer.

all the above are w.r.t the router on which we have configured the command
towards any peer.

Hopefully I am clear in my wordings :)

Thanks,
Dara
