One of the reasons Cat 2970 was discontinued was that it was too good. Cisco
just thought it was inapropriate to have cheap L3 switch, or at least that's
the rumor.

Anyway, if it is for the LAB, it'd try to emulate the HW as much as
possible, not only because of default switch behavior, but also because of
specific hardware properties each platform possesses.
