In OSPF configuration, there are questions like "add interface fa1/0 in area
43 but don't use network command for this".
I know we can do redistribution of connected interfaces to achieve this, but
I came across this in Cisco Certification Guide v.2 (Page 295):
---- As of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(11)T, OSPF configuration can completely omit the network command, instead relying on the ip ospf process-id area area-id interface subcommand. This new command enables OSPF on the interface and selects the area. For instance, on R3 in Example 10-8, the network 10.3.0.0 0.0.255.255 area 3 command could have been deleted and replaced with the ip ospf 1 area 3 command under S0/0.1 and e0/0. ----Can we use this type of config instead of redist connected? Or is this some type of macro that coverts the interface main IP to network command format internally?
-- Bugs can neither be created nor be removed from software by a developer. They can only be converted from one form to another. The total number of bugs in the software always remain constant.
