This is due to the baud rate change.
I guess that the config-register settings of the router have been changed to
get the maximum speed using the console cable to download the IOS image.
As Vaibhav suggested try using 115200 max rate and then all variation.
After this as soon as you get the proper words on the screen restore the
config-register value back to 0x2102.
This should definitely restore.
