Hi guys,

Please can someone clarify a confusion I have got here.

I configured a static RP entry for a mcast network, and I am seeing
the RP to groups mapping information through out the MCast network. Is
this normal behaviour please?

I was expecting not to see this since I am not using any auto group to
RP mapping, nor using a mapping agent to dissiminate the RP
information throughout the MCast routing domain.

here is an excerp from my config please:

(*, 228.28.28.28), 00:09:59/00:02:11, RP 150.1.2.2, flags: SJCL
Incoming interface: GigabitEthernet0/1, RPF nbr 132.1.17.1
  Outgoing interface list:
    Vlan783, Forward/Sparse, 00:09:59/00:02:11

(*, 224.0.1.40), 00:09:59/00:02:30, RP 150.1.2.2, flags: SJPCL
Incoming interface: GigabitEthernet0/1, RPF nbr 132.1.17.1
  Outgoing interface list: Null

SW1#sh run | i pim
 ip pim sparse-mode
 ip pim sparse-mode
ip pim rp-address 150.1.2.2

Any comments wld b appreciated please.

Thanks

Sadiq
