In studying, to help you understand 802.1x, sure!

But, in the lab, I don't think so. To comply with the 802.1x spec,
you'd need to use a RADIUS server (rather than local authentication).
So, you're going to likely have to modify your 802.1x configuration
between your test scenario and what is asked for in the exam anyhow (so,
what's the point of the test).

Also, not sure of platform support in particular off-hand.
