In addition to a new ROMmon, there is another catch:
"However, for the router to recognize and utilize more then 128 MB of DRAM,
Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(11)T or later must be utilized"

Dunno about the flash, maybe you used wrong/defective product or simply did
not press hard enough for the flash pins to be fully engaged :-)
