You could also try running different OSPF processes. Remember that in the lab
they will not reboot your routers before they grade your lab. That being said
your solution should survive a reload in the event you request a regrade ;-)

Have you tried to add an interface into area 0 to get the virtual-link
up and then remove the interface from area 0 once it's up?

I've tried this scenario and still have no idea how to accomplish this
state. First I define area 12 betw. R1, R2 then virtual-link between R1

R2 and after that area 13 on R2, R3
