When asked to limit the mcast traffic sent to a particular group on R2
from source on R1 fa0/0. If we config ip multicast rate-limit on R1
interface fa0/0 such as
ip multicast rate-limit in group list 1 10000
Access-list 10 permit 224.1.1.1
Does it matter what direction we apply the ip rate-limit ... If we apply
IN are we limiting the rate at which the sender can send mcast to the
interface? If we apply out on fa0/0, are we limiting the rate at which
the router would send out of the interface fa0/0 to the source, or out
towards the receiver? If it is OUT to the source than I would say we
should apply IN order to limit the rate at which the source can send to
interface to the GROUP.
