Good afternoon, all,
Here is the situation that I am trying to get straigh in my mind.
Configure an interface on a router to forward incoming Mobile IP
registration broadcasts to 140.100.2.254?
1. What are Mobile IP registrations ports? I am assuming UDP but what
ports.
2. If I had the UDP port information, I planned to configure the "ip
forward-protocol udp" command.
Two options available:
1. Use "ip helper-address 140.100.2.254" command to forward the UDP
broadcast to the 140.100.2.254 address.
OR
2. Use "ip broadcast-address" command to forward the UDP broadcast to
the 140.100.2.254 address.
Why would I use the "ip helper-address command" over the "ip
broadcast-address: or vice versa? Seems to me that all broadcasts would
be send to 140.100.2.254 if the "ip broadcast-address" command was
utilized and not just restricted to the Mobile IP registration
broadcasts.
Man, I am so confused!!!!!
I am not seeing what the differentiator.
Thanks,
Jerry
