Don't feel bad...I also just missed the mark a few days ago in RTP. Persistence is key and having taken it once already will help get rid of any unknown anxiety the next go around. The environment was actually a bit more lax than I had anticipated...Anyhow...
Some tips for RTP (take it for what it is worth) - No NDA compromises here!
1) Try the Wingate hotel..They have a good shuttle system that will take ya pretty much anywhere. Always ask for the Cisco rate (like $80/night) Rental car prices in RTP were the worst I have ever seen (economy car was $110/day) and some places were out of cars altogether.
2) When you hear that phrase "dress comfortably," take it literally. Howard was wearing a hat and everyone dressed from slacks to shorts and sandals...The lab is right there when you walk in, so dress to your comfort level. The lab can be kinda cool, but I did not find it to be that cold per say. Next time I will dress down.
3) I think you are safe to schedule a late flight if needed as long as it is after 6:30. The facility is just down the street from the airport. Our lab finished around 3:50 since we started early. I would definately get to the hotel the day before just to chill and relax.
4) Drink plenty of fluids afterwards (alcohol) as waiting can suck. :) Try the Angus Barn if you get a chance..They have GREAT steaks and the environment is second to none...

the lab 1.5 hours to spare. I have been preparing for CCIE for atleast 18
months and lab exam about 9 months
I scored 64% and also did some stupid mistakes and lost points. Anyway head
down again so I can prepare myself for my second attempt
