Except that, the ospf process in the absence a manually defined router-id
chooses the highest loopback interface before other interfaces as the
router's id, loopback interfaces do not have any other special meaning in
ospf. You still will have to enable ospf on interfaces connected to other
routers to form neighbor. Loopbacks are also preferred because they are the
last to go down, but it is in BGP that this will have an edge and not in
ospf.

Please tell us the name of the workbook(s) where you read this? because that
setence is 100% incorrect.
