1. It is always better to have nice diagrams, but if you are sloppy like me
try to draw the devices and lines a little slowly, I noticed it helps. It
helps to imagine geometric figures before you draw, if they ask a question
that requires 3 routers picture a triangle and draw each router in the edge,
4 routers a square or rectangle and so forth. It helps to practice drawing
some scenarios before the interview.
2. I always answer "I don't know" if I do not know the answer and I think
most interviewers appreciate that. Make sure that you REALLY know everything
you mentioned you know in your resume and do not be ashamed of not knowing
what you have never worked with.
3. If you are being hired for a Network Engineer position, mention that your
5 year plan is to become a Lead Network Engineer or a Principal Network
Engineer and you want to be the person your colleagues go to when they have
a question or need advice.
4. The longer you have been with the current employer the easier to answer
this one. The current job is not challenging enough; there are not many new
projects going on; you got to know the current network so well that
any break/fix is BAU for you. Definitely stay away from mentioning money.
