Specifies the dhcp server ip address. The dhcp server need not be on
the same subnet as the Ethernet interface(with helper address
configured). It can be more than one hop away as long has it is
reachable.
The ip helper address command enables BOOTP broadcast forwarding for a
set of clients. The helper address specifies the address of the DHCP
server configured.

Subject: Difference between these two commands "ip dhcp-server X.X.X.X"
and " ip helper-address X.X.X.X"
Hi All
Could anyone explain to me, what is the difference between these two
commands "ip dhcp-server X.X.X.X" and " ip helper-address X.X.X.X" in
terms of forwarding the client dhcp request to the server.
I am confused with above two commands, not sure which one to use.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
Pandi
