getting T1/serial to NOT pass traffic in up/up condition

Sorry if this is a newbie question. Is there any way to suddenly cause a T1
port to stop passing traffic in an up/up condition? That is, can I inejct
some command that will stop traffic from flowing but keep the interface in
up/up state? If yes, will ISIS try to route traffic over an alternate path
or will it continue pushing traffic over this disabled T1 because it is in
up/up state?
