If his status shows as inactive, doesn't that mean he's still a CCIE? As I
understand it, inactive status means you missed the 2-year renewal period in
which you still have another year to recertify. At the end of the 1-year
grace period and you still haven't recertified then you are considered
"expired" and have to go through it all over again. If I'm right then it
would make sense that this book was sent to publish within the last year and
maybe at that time he was still active.

I love his books and I don't really care what he calls himself. To me it in
no way diminishes the program if Jeff Doyle's cert has expired or not.
