Dustin,
It depends how you define "work". Backup interface tracks the
line protocol status of the interface being backup up. If it goes down
the backup interface comes out of standby state. Now the real question
you should be asking yourself is what causes the line protocol state of
a physical Frame Relay interface to go down? How does this differ from
subinterfaces?
