Hi Mike,

I agree that using the one line answer will also filter the 2 other hosts - and get the answer wrong,..
well, is there any other good way to do the filter of such question systematically,
and not just grouping in all in one ( just like i did :( )

What I think now is
- the summarization net id should be started with one of the specified host - net id
  eq - llike the 2 lines answer
- after the summarization again, breakdown again the member of
the summarization, to ensure that I only summarize what requested

thanks Mike

49.1.0.1
49.1.0.9

If those hosts are not supposed to be filtered, then you will get the
problem wrong. The two line answer will only filter what is required.

Subject: Minimum amount of lines used -> to filter , Pls help TIA

Hi Guys,

I'm rather confused about this issue
- to filter the following hosts with the minimum amount of lines
49.3.0.1
49.5.0.1
49.7.0.1
49.3.0.9
49.5.0.9
49.7.0.9

At first, I come up with one line
49.1.0.1 wild-mask 0.6.0.8

for the second octet summarization
3 = 0 0 1 1
5 = 0 1 0 1
7 = 0 1 1 1
-----------------------
result = octet -> 1 with wild card 6

for the fourth octet summarization
1 = 0 0 0 1
9 = 1 0 0 1
---------------------
result = octet -> 1 with wild card 8

However , there's other opinion with 2 lines
49.3.0.1 wild-mask 0.0.0.8
49.5.0.1 wild-mask 0.2.0.8

which one is right - or there's any other best answer ?

TIA
hin
