As I've received emails asking about my study method, I'm sending an additional message to you all, and I expect to answer most of the questions I received (if some of your questions are not answered, please send them to me again).

I know it will sound strange for some of you, but my number one rule has been: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33. And it really works!

I studied for almost one year, but some months before getting into CCIE track I certified as CCNP. At the beginning I basically used two books for theory: CCIE Practical Studies Vol I and II (however only BGP is studied in depth on these books). After this I started the hands-on study. Firstly I worked on Cisco Labgear labs and then I used IE workbooks.
Most of the time I didn't go into technologies details, and my aim was to have a solid understanding of the main concepts.
I just scheduled my exam when I was sure that I understood the main concepts and could configure them quickly. My idea was that the available Cisco documentation could help me during the exam with the more specific topics, and it really worked on this way during my exam.
When I was close to the exam date, two weeks before, I spent most of my study time at CCD, and went through all the documents availble there. I didn't do any lab during this period and I only worked on topics that were not 100% clear to me.
Finally the day before the lab I just tried to relax. A CCIE friend instructed me to make a lab on this last day but I prefered to spend some time playing some games and having a pleasure night : ) Anyway it was difficult to sleep!
This was my method. I know it is very personal but I'll be glad if you can take any advantage of it.

On the lab I tried not to waste time reading question, I started with configuration and the problems I could not resolve quickly I left to the end of the day. I worked with a check list for every topic, and those that I configured but was not confident I worked on them again at the end of the day too.

Well, that's all by now and I hope it helps.

Cheers, Felipe Stutz - CCIE #14449

I joined this group two weeks ago and didn't have
opportunity to learn with you. But as I know that
this kind of news motivates a lot, I'm sharing it with
you.
Yes! It is possible to pass the lab at the first time
and I did it yesterday.

Best regards,
Felipe Stutz
