I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I am trying to setup my OS X machine as a syslog server. In the
syslog.conf file, I have created the following entry:
local7.debug /var/log/cisco.log
The cisco.log file exists, and I used chmod 666 to change the
privileges.
I configured one of my routers with the following:
logging 192.168.1.100 (address of my OS X machine)
This address is pingable, and there is no FW in the way.
For some reason I do not get any entries in the cisco.log file as I
would expect.
netstat -a shows that syslog is a running udp protocol.
If there are any UNIX gurus out there who might know of any reason why
this doesn't work, I'd love to hear from you.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
Joe
