as-path prepend on incoming BGP routes

We usually set Weight or local-pref of incoming routes but I haven't
seen examples where we prepended as-path on incoming routes and took
any decision based on that. Can there be any requirement in LAB which
might require setting as-path on incoming routes. Or is it simply not
allowed to set as-path for incoming routes?
