No. You do not need CCNA to go for CCIE. (Unless this has changed very
recently). The CCIE program has been pretty separate from the other
Cisco certs traditionally. It came first, by the way. This business of
CCIE recertification renewing other certs is relatively new, and is a
benefit I very much appreciate.
