I think you'll find that Scott is simply saying that you don't need to use
dialer watch-list and dialer-list/dialer-group together...

Eg. ordinarily you'd need to have

Dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

Interface BRI 0/0
  Dialer-group 1

To classify interesting traffic, but with dialer watch you don't need this.
It is simply enough to have the dialer watch config.
