Out of Band access for Cisco Router

Good Afternoon-

I would like to know what the exact level of security breech it is to have a
modem connected to an auxillary port of a Cisco router...

Does anyone have verifiable opinions on this matter? I want to put a modem
at some remote sites for when the frame goes down. There is a lack of
"volunteers" to drive to these remote sites when problems occur. I realize
that I could set it up and leave it unplugged for when the "volunteer" goes
out there for me, but that almost defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Thanks. Any comments and or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
