Swaroop,

Yes you can do either or, but you don't need both. The
difference is that when "broadcast" is on a line by itself, it applies
to all protocol mappings. When applied to a specific mapping, it is
only for that protocol and circuit pair. For example:

Rack3R6#sh run int atm0/0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 134 bytes
!
interface ATM0/0/0
 ip address 54.3.1.6 255.255.255.0
 pvc 0/103
  protocol ip 54.3.1.254 broadcast

Rack3R6#show atm map
Map list ATM0/0/0pvc9 : PERMANENT
ip 54.3.1.254 maps to VC 9, VPI 0, VCI 103, ATM0/0/0
        , broadcast

Rack3R6#ping 255.255.255.255

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 255.255.255.255, timeout is 2 seconds:

Reply to request 0 from 54.3.1.254, 4 ms

Rack3R6#sh run int atm0/0/0
Building configuration...

Current configuration : 136 bytes
!
interface ATM0/0/0
 ip address 54.3.1.6 255.255.255.0
 pvc 0/103
  protocol ip 54.3.1.254
  broadcast
 !

Rack3R6#show atm map
Map list ATM0/0/0pvc9 : PERMANENT
ip 54.3.1.254 maps to VC 9, VPI 0, VCI 103, ATM0/0/0
        , broadcast

Rack3R6#ping 255.255.255.255

Type escape sequence to abort.
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 255.255.255.255, timeout is 2 seconds:

Reply to request 0 from 54.3.1.254, 1 ms

Both show broadcast support in the mappings, and it is verified
by pinging 255.255.255.255.
