Actually you have to configure the physical interfaces first.
If you apply the "channel-group" command to create the port-channel and
then apply the "no switchport" command, the member interfaces will be
removed from the channel-group.
The correct order of operations is to issue the "no switchport"
command on all member interfaces, then issue the "channel-group" command
on these interfaces. Once the port-channel interface is created then
you can apply logical options to it such as the IP address, etc.
