Ahmed,
Thanks for the tip. So if i understand it correctly, the dial-peer checks the availability NOT by pinging
the destination, but by looking up the route. If it finds a route (either specific, summary or default), it will
take peer 1, even if the actually ip address/subnet is unreachable.
Good point !
Regards,
Geert

Hi
I think there is no problem in your configuration from the voip side.
But if your routing table still have a default route or a summary route
that includes the subnet 150.50.106.1. The configuration will not work.
So to make sure of this when you for example try "telnet 150.50.106.1",
the route should at once response with no gateway, or the remote system
is down, / not reachable or something like that.
Best regards
Ahmed Hassan

Subject: Dial Peer switchover
Hi group,
Can the "preference" command be used for "backup" of an unreachable
dial-peer ??
I have been playing around with the following config:
dial-peer voice 1 voip
preference 1
destination-pattern 001
session target ipv4:150.50.106.1
!
dial-peer voice 3 voip
preference 2
destination-pattern 001
session target ipv4:150.50.16.6
When i make the ip address 150.50.106.1 unavailable, my call doesn't
switch to 150.50.16.6
How can i make this call switch to 150.50.16.6 if 150.50.106.1 becomes
unavailable ??
Regards,
Geert Nijs
