Karim,
The default is strangely missing from the command reference for the dlsw remote-peer and dlsw local-peer commands... However, it is documented for the dlsw peer-on-demand-defaults and prom-peer-defaults commands:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fibm_r1/br1fprt2/br1fdlsw.htm#wp1018278
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fibm_r1/br1fprt2/br1fdlsw.htm#wp1018428
Both commands default to the same cost, 3. It would be logical to conclude based on the purpose of the above commands that dlsw remote-peer commands would also default to 3, but I have not verified it in a lab environment.

Thanks Tom for the detailed explanation. Just to summarize, assign a lower
cost for the peer that I want to have it as the primary one plus configure
dlsw timer explorer-wait-time on R1 to have time to evaluate all peers.
Just wanted to ask, what will be the default if cost is not assigned at all
??
Thanks again,
Karim.

peer to use once the first packet is received. Similar to SRB when the
router makes its decision on which peer to use there's only one candidate,
so the first peer that responds will be used -- even if that is the
higher-cost peer.
