Maybe this is one of those "forest before the trees" cases David but
if your diagram is an accurate description of the interfaces you are
connecting, it looks like you have
a 100Mg ethernet connected to a 10 Meg ethernet, which as we all know
doesn't work. Even if the
fast ethernet can "dumb-itself-down" to 10Meg/ half, the fact that you have
a sub-interface on it is probably causing the link to flap.
