RE: SNMP and Rmon

Hi Micheal,

Actually, the source ( inspiration would be more correct) of my questions
come from The Cisco Cookbook publiched by O'Reilly and Doyle's Routing
TCP/IP vol II. Both provide Rmon examples, but don't show or explain what
snmp config is a pre-requisite for the Rmon config to work.

Since the Rmon related config lines don't specify the ip host address of the
mgmt station or the community string, I assume that Rmon uses the settings
for those variables from what's configured with the snmp-server statements -
otherwise how would Rmon know where to send it's events or what the password
is. But, I can't tell from the examples whether snmp traps have to be
enabled for this to work. Also, if snmp traps have to be enabled for this
to work, how do I limit the traps that are sent to just the Rmon generated
traps?
