Scott/Bob,

Thanks for answering the Q's.Now i seem to be getting some clairty. I
will modify the original Q (by the poster) to make more realistic
disscusion. Let us say we have a ex requirement which says as below -

1. Configure the 3550 port gig1/0 to drop any 235.35.35.34 IGMP join
messages recieved on the interface ?

My configuration would be as below. Is this correct ?

ip igmp profile 1
deny
range 235.35.35.34

interface gig 1/0
ip igmp filter 1

I dont think the Multicast stub routing will be accurate in this scenario
above. Am i correct in understanding this. Now let us say we have scenario
2 like -

2. Configure the 3550 port gig1/0 to drop any IGMP join messages recieved
on the interface from router R1 for group 235.35.35.34.

- So here we would use Multicast stub routing.

Thanks,
Kasturi.
