Synchronization is a totally obsolete technique, used when ISPs
routinely redistributed all routes into their IGP. It's now off by
default.

As a minor factoid, the environment for which synchronization was
marginally fitted is the reason that the OSPF Type 8 LSA (Database
Overflow) was defined, but, as far as I know, never implemented.
Better iBGP and pervasive BGP was a better solution and is the best
current practice.

My recollection is that Cisco said it's gone from the lab, but I
can't remember where I saw that. Anyone have better wetware?
