Nathasha,
Your solution would be correct - please keep in mind that pruning DOES
NOT stop STP from running for a VLAN....
>From CCIE PSVI pg. 66: By default, VTP pruning is disabled; therefore,
global VTP pruning must be enabled.
en
vlan database
vtp pruning
The "vtp pruning" command enables pruning for VLANs. No further
configuration is necessary unless you only want to prune specific VLANs.
To prune specific VLANs:
en
config t
interface fast 0/23
switchport trunk pruning vlan add 10, 20, 30 , 40, 55, 70, 100
Note: VTP pruning does not affect spanning tree. To remove an instance
of STP from a trunk, use the following:
en
conf t
int fast 0/23
switchport trunk allowed vlan 10, 20, 30, 40, 55, 70, 100
HTH,
Andre'

Subject: Pruning!
Hi,
I know that Pruning increases available bandwidth on a
trunk link, now if I have to remove traffic from a
VLAN that is not locally assigned to it, would I
enable prunning(global configuration mode) on both
sides of the link and be done with it.
Is there any additional configuration needed to
accomplish this?
Thank you
