The soft configuration is a command set that builds extra tables in the
BGP database. It does this so that you can change your BGP policies (in
or out) without needing to COMPLETELY reset a BGP session (aka "hard
reset"). It takes extra memory to make this work, but if you have a
large BGP table being used, it can save a lot of time reloading a
session and affecting reachability....
